Friday, September 7
This morning after breakfast in the hotel we will depart with a local guide on a sightseeing tour (guide will be with you until the end of the day) – drive the Lakefront to see beautiful views of Lake Michigan – photo stop. Next, take a guided tour through the beautiful Basilica of St. Josaphat. This is one of 62 minor basilicas found in the United States. In its grandeur and opulence it is an excellent example of the so-called Polish Cathedral style of church architecture found in the Great Lakes region of North America. Modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, it features one of the largest copper domes in the world. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a designated Milwaukee Landmark. After Lunch, on own, in Milwaukee’s Public Market in the Historic Third Ward, we will embark on a great historical adventure with a guided tour of the Pabst Mansion. This award-winning historic museum stands as one of Milwaukee’s great architectural landmarks. Next, we will arrive at the Chudnow Museum of yesteryear for a guided tour. This Museum documents Milwaukee history and is located in a historic building displaying the late Avrum Chudnow’s extensive and eclectic collection of early 20th Century Americana. The museum contains various shops and exhibits from his collection, from the 1920’s and 1930’s era. Then we will visit the Clock Shadow Creamery –opportunity to purchase fresh Wisconsin Cheese Curds from Milwaukee’s Urban Cheese Factory. Dinner this evening is a Wisconsin Experience at Milwaukee’s only authentic Polish Restaurant, the Polonez.    (B, D)
Saturday, September 8
Breakfast is included at the hotel.  We will begin the day on a light-hearted sightseeing tour with Laverne & Shirley. Next, arrive at Lakefront Brewery for tour and samples. The Lakefront Brewery tour is ranked the 4th best brewery tour in America by Trip Advisor. At Lakefront Brewery all group members will have the opportunity to learn the Schlemeal, Schlimazel dance.  Lunch is included at a local mom & pop Italian Restaurant well known for their thin crust pizza. Next, we will visit Koz’s Mini Bowl. Koz’s Mini Bowl is Milwaukee’s favorite place for mini-bowling, fun, and atmosphere. There are 4 mini bowling lanes with human pin setters. The balls fit in the palm of your hand and weigh 2-3 lbs. People travel to Koz’s from all over the Midwest to play a game of mini-bowling. Enjoy a 1/2 game of mini-bowling. Our next stop is Leon’s Drive-In, a Milwaukee tradition since 1942, for a Frozen Custard Treat. From Presidents to celebrities, they have all stopped here for a delicious frozen treat while in Milwaukee. Then arrive at the Harley Davidson Museum for a guided Tour of the Museum – You will take an engaging guided tour “Journey through the History of Harley-Davidson”. There is lot’s to see like the oldest Harley-Davidson in existence – serial number one, movie sampling of Hollywood’s most memorable motorcycle moments, learn about Harley-Davidson’s humble beginnings in Milwaukee during the Industrial Revolution, and much more. After the tour there will be time for shopping and pictures. You never know who you could meet at the Harley Davidson Museum. Dinner at the 1950’s inspired Miss Katie’s Diner – Lots of celebrities and Presidents have dined at Miss Katie’s.  The same rib recipe has been served here for over 64 years. This evening we will board a private pontoon boat for a Sunset Skyline Cruise. Travel down the Milwaukee River into the harbor of Lake Michigan and get a front-row view of architectural treasures and highlights.  After a fun filled day we return to the Park East Hotel – Laverne & Shirley will say good-bye to the group .
