We will start the day with a visit to the Hermann Living History Farm. Located on 200 acres, within the City limits, the Living History farm is dedicated to preserving and presenting the unique agricultural, social and economic history of the German immigrants who settled the lower Missouri River Valley in the
mid-1800’s.  The tour begins with the beautifully decorated  buildings on First and Reserve; the  Mercantile (Gift Shop),Spirit House (Hussmann Wine History Displays)  Four-Square Garden, 1839 Schuentzen Halle (Sharpshooters) and the 1790 Polly Phillips Trading Post.  Also on tour  are the broommaker , tinsmith and woodwright shops.  Costumed guides, Father Christmas, Shire draft horses, a bonfire, and refreshments add to the fun.  Also included is a tour of the Husmann house. This  residence has been restored  with carefully selected period furnishings to recreate the look of the interior during the mid 1800’s.  Next we will enjoy an included Lunch & Tour at the Hermann Wurst Haus. The Wurst Haus is located in historic, downtown Hermann. They have more than 60 years experience in the meat processing business and produce more than 40 varieties of fresh and smoked sausages and bratwursts.   Free samples of brats and sausages will be available for tasting before lunch is served. After lunch, Mike will offer a tour of his processing area and how bratwurst is made followed by free time for shopping. After lunch we will have time to shop/browse in the specialty shops in the downtown Historic Area. Then we board our motorcoach for Starkenburg.  We will attend the Christmas Concert at the beautiful, historic St. Martins Church Museum at the Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows at Starkenburg.  The church, built in 1873 from native limestone in the area,  is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hear holiday favorites sung and  holiday selections palyed on the 1860 Pfeffer pipe organ.  The ladies from the Parish will have their Country Store open with homemade items for sale after the Concert. What a great way to find the true spirit of Christmas!!
